A MOTION authorizing the executive to accept a bequest of $360,000 from the estate of Lillian May Hyde to King County's ACCESS transportation program for the benefit of van service provided to Beacon Hill and the South Seattle district.

WHEREAS, King County Metro's accessible services unit provides transportation services for people with special needs through its ACCESS transportation program, and
WHEREAS, during her life Lillian May Hyde, a private citizen with no contractual relationship with the county, appreciated King County's ACCESS transportation services provided by King County Metro's accessible services unit, and
WHEREAS, Lillian May Hyde voluntarily, without coercion or inducement, bequeathed the residue of her estate to King County Metro's ACCESS transportation program "for the benefit of van service provided to Beacon Hill and the South Seattle district," and
WHEREAS, this bequest will legitimately enhance the county's ability to serve in the public's interest and provide transportation services to people with special needs, and
WHEREAS, this bequest is intended neither to influence a particular county action, nor to affect the performance of official duties and responsibilities by King County Metro's accessible services unit, and
WHEREAS, King County government is a charitable organization as defined by the federal Internal Revenue Service and King County as an entity that can accept gifts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The executive is hereby authorized to accept a bequest of $360,000, and such further amounts as may be disbursed in the future, from the estate of Lillian May Hyde to King County's ACCESS transportation program for the benefit of van service provided to Beacon Hill and the South Seattle district. The funds shall be deposited into the county's trust and contribution fund and spent down in accordance with the grantor's wishes at the
