AN ORDINANCE renaming the Shoreline district court building the Judge Robert A. Wacker Memorial Building in honor of Judge Robert A. Wacker, past district court judge, King County Shoreline district court.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1. Judge Robert A. Wacker served King County as district court judge for more than twenty-eight years and was admired by his professional colleagues for his exemplary service.
2. Judge Robert A. Wacker was born and raised in New York, completed his undergraduate work at Columbia University and the University of Washington and later graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 1964.
3. Judge Robert A. Wacker, a former judge pro tem and a former deputy proscutor for King County, was elected to the district court on January 13, 1975, and throughout his tenure on the bench served on and chaired many committees in the district court.
4. In 1976 and 1977 Judge Robert A. Wacker served as district court presiding judge.
5. While Judge Robert A.Wacker passed away on April 1, 2003, his character, his devotion to the law, and his contributions to the citizens of King County in his capacity as King County district court judge will remain with us.
6. On Monday, May 19, 2003, we wish to recognize Judge Robert A. Wacker's significant service.
BE IT ORDAINEDBY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. We do hereby honor and memorialize Judge Robert A. Wacker by
renaming the Shoreline district court building the Judge Robert A. Wacker Memorial Building.
