A RESOLUTION relating to the Hawley Road levee improvements in the City of Kent, repealing resolution FCD2011-09.1, and authorizing the chair to enter into a grant agreement with the State of Washington Department of Ecology.
Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to 2009-2011 Washington State Legislature ESHB 1216 and section 3035 of the State of Washington Capital Budget for the Kent Valley Hawley Road Levee, the King County Flood Control District is eligible for a state grant of $900,000 to improve the Hawley Road Levee; and
WHEREAS, the District plans to apply the state grant to assist the City of Kent in improving the levee between Green River Mile 22.9 to 23.8 to provide freeboard in excess of a five hundred year flood event level which will exceed FEMA accreditation requirements; and
WHEREAS, the District, through resolution FCD2011-09.1, authorized the chair to enter into a grant agreement with the State of Washington to obtain the state grant and implement the Hawley Road Levee improvements; and
WHEREAS, the State of Washington substantially revised the terms and condition of the grant agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors desires to repeal resolution FCD2011-09.1 and authorize the chair of the District to enter into the revised grant agreement; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE KING COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL ZONE DISTRICT:
SECTION 1. Resolution FCD2011-09.1 is repealed.
SECTION 2. The chair of the King County Flood Control Zone District is authorized to enter into the Ecology Grant Agreement No. G1200304 between the State of Washington Department of Ecology and the King County Flood District, substantially in the form of Attachment A to this resolution.
