AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute identical interlocal agreements with the Renton Regional Fire Authority and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority delegating administrative duties to perform inspections of the fire code operational permit program of regulated occupancies in fire protection districts 25, 37, and 43.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1. The county adopted K.C.C. Title 17, also known as the Fire Code of King County, to set fire safety standards within its unincorporated areas.
2. K.C.C. 17.04.230.3. authorizes the county fire marshal to delegate fire prevention inspection authority to the chiefs of the King County fire districts and city fire departments within the county through interlocal agreements.
3. The county, the Renton Regional Fire Authority, and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority agree that the Renton Regional Fire Authority and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority are in the best position to administer and perform inspections of the fire code operational permit program on behalf of the county.
4. Interlocal agreements between the county and the Renton Regional Fire Authority and between the county and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority to administer the fire code operational permit program on behalf of the County is authorized by chapter 19.27 RCW, the State Building Code Act, and chapter 39.34 RCW, the Interlocal Cooperation Act.
5. King County maintains all local governmental authority and jurisdiction to adopt, interpret, and amend the International Fire Code within unincorporated King County.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
The county executive is hereby authorized to execute contract agreements with the Renton Regional Fire Authority and the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority relating
to the administration of the fire code operational permit program in unincorporated King County in substantially the form of Attachments A and B to this ordinance.
