Title
A MOTION related to the transfer of retired vanpool vans to nonprofit organizations and local governments to meet the needs of low-income, elderly, disabled and young county citizens.
Body
WHEREAS, King County provides transit services to its citizens to increase mobility options and reduce traffic congestion and related environmental degradation, and
WHEREAS, the provision of passenger vans to groups serving individuals with limited resources and mobility options will support those goals and provide significant public benefits, and
WHEREAS high-quality passenger vans retaining substantial value and utility are periodically retired from the county's vanpool program, and
WHEREAS, the metropolitan King County council has previously transferred retired vans to agencies serving low-income, elderly, disabled and young people, and
WHEREAS, the council provided for the transfer of twenty-six additional vans in the 2005 Metro transit division budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The donation of a retired vanpool passenger van to each of the following agencies is hereby approved:
Alpha Spring Meadows,
Auburn Youth Resources,
Bike Works,
Community Psychiatric Clinic,
Enumclaw High School,
Evergreen Club - The Korean Seniors,
Federal Way Senior Center,
First Place,
Friends of Youth,
Friends of Youth,
Greater Gold Wrestling Academy,
International Drop-In Center,
Issaquah, City of (Parks & Recreation),
Lambert House,
Leon Sullivan Health Care Center,
Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club,
Mr. B's Competition Team,
Redmond/Sammamish Boys and Girls Club,
Shoreline, City of (Police Department),
Southern Sudanese Community of Washington,
The Cascade Bicycle Club Education Foundation,
The Wilderness Awareness School,
