AN ORDINANCE cancelling the April 26, 2011, special election on the question of annexation of the city of Enumclaw to the King County rural library district; repealing Ordinance 17036, Section 1, Ordinance 17036, Section 2, Ordinance 17036, Section 3, Ordinance 17036, Section 4, Ordinance 17036, Section 5, Ordinance 17036, Section 6, Ordinance 17036, Section 7, and Ordinance 17036, Section 8; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. Findings:
A. The city of Enumclaw, Washington, by Resolution No. 1406, determined that it is in the public interest and general welfare to provide for the annexation of the city of Enumclaw into the King County rural library and initiated the annexation into the library district, and the metropolitan King County council enacted Ordinance 17036 as an emergency ordinance so a special election could be held on the question of this annexation on April 26, 2011.
B. At its March 7, 2011, council meeting the city council of Enumclaw adopted a motion directing that its administration notify King County that the city withdrew from the April 26 special election. The city council also directed the administration to draft a resolution withdrawing from the April 26 election. On March 9, 2011, the city administrator of the city of Enumclaw notified the clerk of the county council that the city no longer wished to proceed with the special election on April 26, 2011. The city council is scheduled at its meeting of March 14, 2011, to consider and adopt a resolution withdrawing from the special election. Cancellation of the election requires immediate enactment of this ordinance, repealing the ordinance that called for the election, Ordinance 17036.
