A MOTION accepting the annual progress report on the implementation of the King County Veterans and Human Services Levy Service Improvement Plan, as required by Ordinance 15632.

      WHEREAS, the voters of King County approved a ballot measure in November 2005 to create a regional health and human services fund to benefit veterans, military personnel and their families and other residents in need, and
      WHEREAS, in April 2006, the King County council approved Ordinance 15406, "AN ORDINANCE providing direction regarding the expenditure of proceeds from the regional human services levy for veterans and others in need . . . " and calling for the creation of a service improvement plan to guide the steps of implementation and use of the funds, and
      WHEREAS, in October 2006, the King County council approved Ordinance 15632, "AN ORDINANCE adopting the service improvement plan guiding the management and expenditure of the proceeds from the veterans and human services levy . . . " and calling for annual reporting on the implementation of the levy service improvement plan, and
      WHEREAS, Ordinance 15632 directs the county executive to submit to the council and the regional policy committee the first annual progress report by June 1, 2007, and an annual progress report each year thereafter through 2011;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The metropolitan King County council accepts the 2008 annual progress report on the implementation of the King County Veterans and Human Services Levy Service
 
Improvement Plan and authorizes the department of community and human services to proceed with levy planning and implementation.
