A MOTION confirming the executive's appointment of Jane Hague, Larry Phillips, Kathy Lambert, Dow Constantine, John Marchione, Joan McBride, Dave Namura and Joni Earl to the Eastside Rail Corridor regional advisory council.
Body
WHEREAS, the Eastside Rail Corridor (?ERC?) is a forty-two-mile corridor that extends from Renton to Snohomish and from Woodinville to Redmond, and
WHEREAS, the ERC creates a direct contiguous land use and transportation connection through the communities of Renton, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville, Snohomish county and King County, and
WHEREAS, Puget Sound Energy, Sound Transit, Redmond and King County are parties to a November 5, 2009, memorandum of understanding regarding the ERC, wherein the goal of dual usage for transportation and recreation was a guiding principle, and
WHEREAS, the ERC is now in public ownership, with: the city of Kirkland and the city of Redmond each holding fee simple ownership over portions of the corridor; Sound Transit holding a fee simple ownership and an easement ownership of portions of the corridor; and King County in the process of closing on its purchase of fee simple ownership of a portion of the corridor from the Port of Seattle, and
WHEREAS, Puget Sound Energy has purchased a utilities easement the length of the corridor, and
WHEREAS, King County and city of Kirkland are in discussions regarding an interlocal agreement related to coordination of planning for future uses along the Kirkland-owned portion of the corridor, and
WHEREAS, Motion 13801 established the ERC as a corridor of regional significance, declared the criticality of the regional ownership partnership and established the ERC regional advisory council to immediately carry out the regional planning process envisioned in the November 5, 2009, memorandum of understanding, including implementing and coordinating the rail, trail and utility uses in the corridor, coordinating with affected citie...
