AN ORDINANCE authorizing the executive to enter into amendments to existing conservation futures interlocal cooperation agreements with the cities of Bothell, Shoreline and Tukwila for the disbursement of conservation futures funds appropriated under the 2003 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 14517, and Ordinance 14409.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1. Conservation futures tax levy funds are collected through King County as a dedicated portion of the property tax and are, by statute, available only for the acquisition of open space and resource lands.
2. Ordinance 13717 established a process for the annual distribution of conservation futures tax levy funds, which includes an allocation of conservation futures funds by the council through the annual budget adoption process.
3. On November 25, 2002, the King County council adopted the 2003 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 14517, and allocated conservation futures funds to the following open space acquisition projects: $125,000 to the Haynes acquisition project in Bothell; and $200,000 to the Grandmother's Hill project in Tukwila.
4. On July 19, 2002, by Ordinance 14409, the King County council allocated $50,000 in conservation futures funds to the city of Shoreline Paramount park acquisition project.
5. The county desires to disburse conservation futures funds to the suburban cities and must do so by amending existing or executing new interlocal agreements with these jurisdictions.
6. King County is authorized to enter into an interlocal agreement with the cities pursuant to chapter 39.34 RCW, the Interlocal Cooperation Act.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1.
