A MOTION related to parks, trails and open space; the Green to Cedar Rivers Trail; acknowledging receipt of the parks levy funding report as required by the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18835, as amended by Ordinance 18993, Section 3, and by Ordinance 19021, Section 73, Proviso P2, as amended.

WHEREAS, by the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18835, as amended by Ordinance 18993, Section 3, and by Ordinance 18993, Section 4, as amended by Ordinance 19021, Section 73, Proviso P2, the King County council adopted and the executive approved a proviso encumbering a total of one hundred thousand dollars from the parks, recreation trails and open space levy fund requiring a report exploring alternative uses for the nine million dollars of parks levy proceeds listed in Attachment C to Motion 15378 for the Green to Cedar Rivers Trail North Segment A and a motion acknowledging receipt of said report by June 30, 2020, and
WHEREAS, the parks and recreation division of the department of natural resources and parks has submitted the report including a summary of engagement, discussion of alternatives explored, and the joint recommendations of the city of Maple Valley and the department of natural resources and parks for use of the funding, all as required by Ordinance 19021, Section 73, Proviso P2, as amended, and
WHEREAS, the department of natural resources and parks reached a joint recommendation with the city of Maple Valley for using the levy funding to design and construct an interim gravel trail on Green to Cedar Rivers Trail South Segment A, which is shared in the report;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The King County council hereby acknowledges receipt of the alternative uses for levy funds for the Green to Cedar Rivers Trail report, Attachment A to this motion, as required by the 2019-2020 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18835, as amended by
