STATEMENT OF FACTS
1. The city of Redmond had a project to widen a portion of West Lake Sammamish Parkway along Marymoor park.
2. The city of Redmond needed to acquire additional land in order to accommodate the proposed improvements.
3. King County owned several parcels along the portion of West Lake Sammamish Parkway where additional land was needed.
4. King County enacted Ordinance 15395 to convey ownership of portions of three parcels to the city of Redmond needed for land to be used as additional segments of right-of-way for the city's proposed improvements.
5. The city of Redmond has completed its widening project of West Lake Sammamish Parkway along Marymoor park that has resulted in the creation of additional segments of right-of-way located outside the existing city boundary. Since the additional segments of right-of-way are in unincorporated King County, they are technically segments of county road rights-of-way.
6. It is in city of Redmond and King County's best interest to have the additional segments of right-of-way under city of Redmond's jurisdiction.
7. The city of Redmond approved ordinance number 2286 to revise its corporate boundary. The city of Redmond ordinance number 2286 revises the city's corporate boundary to include the new segments of West Lake Sammamish Parkway right-of-way that are still located in unincorporated King County.
8. RCW 35.21.790 and 35A.21.210 authorize King County and city of Redmond to agree to revise any part of the corporate boundary of the city that coincides with the centerline, edge or any portion of a county road right-of-way by substituting therefore a right-of-way line of the same county road so as fully to include that segment of the county road within the corporate limits of the city.
9. The corporate boundary revision is effective upon approval by county ordinance. Such a boundary revision is not subject to potential review by the boundary review board.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The revision of the corporate boundary of the city of Redmond to
include the new segments of West Lake Sammamish Parkway, legally described as set forth in Attachment A to this ordinance, is hereby approved.
