Title
A MOTION related to the transfer of retired vanpool vans to nonprofit organizations and local governments to meet the needs of low-income, elderly, disabled and young county citizens.
Body
      WHEREAS, King County provides transit services to its citizens to increase mobility options and reduce traffic congestion and related environmental degradation, and
      WHEREAS, the provision of passenger vans to groups serving individuals with limited resources and mobility options will support those goals and provide significant public benefits, and
      WHEREAS, high-quality passenger vans retaining substantial value and utility are periodically retired from the county's vanpool program, and
      WHEREAS, the metropolitan King County council has previously transferred retired vans to agencies serving low-income, elderly, disabled and young people, and
      WHEREAS, the council provided for the transfer of twenty-six additional vans in the 2003 Metro transit division budget,
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The donation of a retired vanpool passenger van to each of the following agencies is hereby approved:
      Auburn, City of;
      Auburn Youth Resources;
      Awareness Society;
      Bellevue Boys and Girls Club of King County;
Camp Fire USA;
Center for Human Services;
Communities in Schools of Seattle;
Duck Pond Group;
Fare Start;
Federal Way Boys and Girls Club of King County;
Issaquah School District;
Issaquah Valley Seniors;
Kirkland Boys and Girls Club of King County (2 vans);
Low Income Housing Institute;
Overlake Specialty School;
Pacific, City of;
Perinatal Treatment Services;
Redmond Fire Department/Medic One;
Rotary Boys and Girls Club;
Shoreline, City of;
Skyway Boys and Girls Club of King County;
Somali Community Services;
Total Living Concept;
