A MOTION appointing committees to write the voters' pamphlet statements for and against Proposition ___ placed on the ballot by Ordinance 17568 for the August 6, 2013, election.
Body
WHEREAS, K.C.C. chapter 1.10 provides for the publication and distribution of local voters' pamphlets in conformity with chapter 29A.32 RCW for annual general elections held in King County, and
WHEREAS, RCW 29A.32.280 provides that for each measure from a unit of local government that is included in a local voters' pamphlet, the legislative authority of that jurisdiction shall formally appoint a committee to prepare arguments advocating voter approval of the measure and a committee to prepare arguments advocating voter rejection of the measure, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 17568, passed by the council on April 29, 2013, provided for submission to the voters at the August 6, 2013, general election of a proposition authorizing a property tax levy in excess of the levy limitation contained in chapter 84.55 RCW for a period of six consecutive years, at a total rate of not more than $0.1877 per one thousand dollars of assessed valuation in the first year with annual increases by the percentage increase in the consumer price index or the limitation in 84.55 RCW, whichever is greater in years two through six, for the purpose of maintaining: and operating King County's parks system; improving parks, recreation and mobility by acquiring open space and continuing to develop regional trails; repairing, replacing, and improving local parks and trails in King County's cities; and funding environmental education, maintenance, conservation and capital programs at the Woodland Park Zoo;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
Pursuant to RCW 29A.32.280, the following individuals are appointed to serve on the voters' pamphlet committees for Proposition ___ placed on the ballot by Ordinance 17568, each committee to write a statement for or against the proposed amendment, for the August 6, 2013 general election:
