Title

A MOTION adopting the 2025 King County Youth Action Plan; and rescinding Motion 14378 and Motion 14378, Attachment A.

Body

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 17738 called for the development of a Youth Action Plan to set King County's priorities for serving infants through young adults, and

                      WHEREAS, in 2015, the Youth Action Plan, including nine recommendation areas, was adopted by Motion 14378, and

                     WHEREAS, since adopting the Youth Action Plan, King County and community partners have made significant progress in each of the nine recommendation areas, and

                     WHEREAS, in 2023, the King County Children and Youth Advisory Board called upon King County to update the Youth Action Plan to reflect present-day realities of young people, and

                     WHEREAS, youth voice, community input, and internal County subject matter experts were instrumental to updating the Youth Action Plan, and

                     WHEREAS, the Updated Youth Action Plan attached to this motion reflects the priorities of young people identified through the King County Youth Bill of Rights, and

                     WHEREAS, the King County Youth Action Plan contains the following nine updated Recommendation Areas:

                     1.  Lead with Equity, Racial, and Social Justice;

                     2.  Strengthen and Stabilize Families, Children, Youth and Young Adults/

                     3   Stop the School to Prison Pipeline;

                     4.  Strengthen Cross Sector Collaboration and Collective Impact;

                     5.  Be Data Informed and Data Inclusive;

                     6.  Invest Early, Invest Often, Invest in Community Informed-Outcomes

                     7.  Implementation, Accountability, and Evaluation;

                     8.  Youth Bill of Rights; and

                     9.  Strengthen the Community Based Organization Ecosystem;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     A.  The 2025 Youth Action Plan, Attachment A to this motion, is adopted as the

framework to set direction for King County's policy development, services, and programing for young people prenatal through age twenty-four.

                     B.  Motion 14378 and Attachment A to Motion 14378 are rescinded.
