AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute an interlocal agreement with the South King County Fire Training Consortium to conduct an audit and review of King County International Airport Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting standards and operations to reduce liability associated with noncompliance with federal, state and local fire and life safety codes.

Body

STATEMENT OF FACTS: 

1.  King County International Airport contracts with the King County Sheriff’s Office for emergency responder services including aircraft rescue firefighting, fire protection, fire suppression and emergency medical services.

2.  Mutual aid interoperability is important as the Airport relies on fire and medical mutual aid support from neighboring cities for incidents exceeding the capacity of the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting unit.

3.  King County International Airport is partnering with the South King County Fire Training Consortium to audit for noncompliance with federal, state and local fire and life safety codes while effectively and efficiently improving operational consistency with mutual aid organizations.

                     BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:                     

                     SECTION 1.  The executive is hereby authorized to execute an interlocal agreement with the South King County Fire Training Consortium substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance.
