Title

A MOTION accepting the Green Building Handbook from the department of permitting and environmental review and intending that the handbook continue to be used to help encourage private green building development.

Body

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 17709, the Green Building Ordinance, called for the department of permitting and environmental review to develop a Green Building Handbook for use by its customers in the unincorporated areas of King County, and

                     WHEREAS, the 2015 Strategic Climate Action Plan also called upon the department to develop a Green Building Handbook for use by citizens in King County, and

                     WHEREAS, the 2016 Comprehensive Plan includes policy direction in Policies U-133, R-336a, F-215a and ED-501a that encourages green building practices in private development, and

                     WHEREAS, the department of permitting and environmental review developed a Green Building Handbook in 2015 that consists of twenty areas of green building techniques and that it offers to its customers both in a notebook and online;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The council accepts the Green Building Handbook as prepared by the department of permitting and environmental review and intends that the department continue to use the handbook to help encourage private green building development.
