A MOTION approving a report related to King County's financial support of the King County fair operated and managed by the city of Enumclaw in accordance with the 2015/2016 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17941, Section 89, Proviso P2, as amended by Ordinance 18110, Section 35.

WHEREAS, Ordinance 18110, Section 35, Proviso P2, which was an amendment to the 2015/2016 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17941, Section 89, stated that $250,000 could not be encumbered or expended until the executive transmitted a financial summary report of the King County fair from 2000 through 2015 and a motion that approves the report and the motion was passed by the council, and
WHEREAS, the King County fair was operated and managed exclusively by King County until the year 2007 when the fairground facilities and future capital improvements were transferred to the city of Enumclaw in accordance with Ordinance 15634, and
WHEREAS, the ownership of the King County fair was fully transferred in the year 2009 to the city of Enumclaw with financial support from the King County general fund as a result of Ordinance 16369. The agreement included a provision for the King County fair to continue providing suitable competitions for 4-H and Future Farmers of America events, sufficient to allow 4-H and Future Farmers of America participants to compete in state competitions at the Washington State fair in Puyallup, and
WHEREAS, the parks and recreation division of the department of natural resources and parks provided financial support to the city of Enumclaw for the King County fair with fifty thousand dollars in 2010, and thirty five thousand dollars in 2015 through Ordinance 18088, and
WHEREAS, the parks and recreation division of the department of natural resources and parks has identified viable revenue sources, to be considered by the council, providing twenty-five thousand dollars as a permanent annual financial subsidy to the ...
