A MOTION declaring an emergency under Section 6 of FCD2009-06.2, and authorizing the Chair of the Executive Committee to negotiate and sign a contract with Lund Consulting to perform interim Executive Director services.

WHEREAS, by Motion FCD15-01, the Board of the King County Flood Control Zone District ("District") determined that the last day of the Executive Director's employment shall be March 23, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the District is engaged in many projects, activities and matters that require oversight, administration and management by an Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, Section 5 of FCD2009-06.2 establishes a request for proposal process for the selection of a provider of professional services; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the search for and hiring of a new Executive Director will take several months; and
WHEREAS, Section 6 of FCD2009-06.2 authorizes the immediate execution of a District contract for the acquisition of services, upon a finding of the existence of an emergency; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Committee has determined that the District's lack of an Executive Director is an emergency requiring the immediate execution of a District contract for interim Executive Director services; now, therefore,
BE IT MOVED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE KING COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL ZONE DISTRICT:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 6 of FCD2009-06.2, the Executive Committee finds that an emergency exists, requiring the immediate execution of a contract for interim Executive Director services.
SECTION 2. The Chair of the Executive Committee is hereby authorized to negotiate and sign a contract with Lund Consulting to perform interim Executive Director services for a period of up to six months from the date of commencement of services.
