A MOTION authorizing the department of public health to accept a donation of thirty-eight thousand one hundred fifty dollars from EvergreenHealth.

      WHEREAS, the department of public health provides funding for the Edward Thomas House through a contract with Harborview Medical Center for services to homeless individuals needing a safe place to recover from acute injury or illness, and
      WHEREAS, Harborview Medical Center provides primary medical care, psychosocial assessments and case management to homeless individuals receiving medical respite services at the Edward Thomas House, and
      WHEREAS, various local funding agencies and area hospitals have provided financial support to the Edward Thomas House project and have validated it as a cost effective strategy resulting in reductions in utilization of jail and other public institutions thereby benefitting  homeless patients and the community, and
      WHEREAS, EvergreenHealth wishes to make a donation to provide support for costs associated with the Edward Thomas House - Medical Respite at Jefferson Terrace, and
      WHEREAS, under K.C.C. 2.80.010, gifts, bequests and donations of more than two thousand dollars shall be accepted on behalf of King County by motion of the council;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The department of public health is authorized to accept a donation of thirty-eight thousand one hundred fifty dollars from EvergreenHealth to be used for services provided at the Edward Thomas House-Medical Respite at Jefferson Terrace.
