Title
AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute an amendment to the interlocal agreement with the King County ferry district, extending the expiration date by one year, from December 31, 2011, to December 31, 2012.
Body
      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
      SECTION 1.  Findings:
      A.  On April 30, 2007, the King County council approved Ordinance 15739, establishing the King County ferry district.  As authorized by RCW 36.54.110, the ferry district is a municipal corporation, an independent taxing authority within the meaning of Article VII, section 1 of the state Constitution, and a taxing district within the meaning of Article VII, section 2 of the state Constitution.
      B.  On April 14, 2008, the King County council approved Ordinance 16055, authorizing the executive to execute an intergovernmental agreement with the King County ferry district related to the county providing ferry planning and implementation services to the district.
      C.  An interlocal agreement between the King County ferry district and King County for ferry planning and implementation services was executed and became effective on May 23, 2008.
      D.  On _____ __, 2011, the ferry district board approved Resolution FD2010-__, authorizing the chair of the ferry district board to execute an amendment to the interlocal agreement with King County that provides for a one-year extension of the agreement expiration date, to December 31, 2012.
      SECTION 2.  The county executive is hereby authorized to execute an amendment to an existing interlocal agreement, substantially in the form of Attachment A
to this ordinance, with the King County ferry district for the extension of the agreement to December 31, 2012.
