A RESOLUTION relating to extended water taxi service on game days.
Body
WHEREAS, the King County Ferry District provides year-round waterborne public transportation to and from downtown Seattle via the West Seattle Water Taxi as part of the transportation infrastructure of King County, and
WHEREAS, the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders have regularly scheduled games in downtown Seattle that are accessed by water taxi riders, and
WHEREAS, the regular schedule of service accommodates all of the start times and a majority of the end times of these sporting events, and
WHEREAS, as part of the transportation infrastructure of King County consistency in the reliance upon public transportation is critical to the success of public transportation and the economic vitality of the region through reducing transportation congestion;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE KING COUNTY FERRY DISTRICT:
It shall be the policy of the King County Ferry District to extend its Sunday through Thursday summer schedule of service for the West Seattle water taxi service to accommodate game day end times for professional sporting events at Safeco Field and Century Link Stadium with game end times later than the regular schedule of service.
